Digital and Analogical photography Course in Florence, Italy

This beginners course begins with the understanding the basics of photography: the camera and how it works (the light meter, aperture, shutter and film speeds) as well as the use of the darkroom (developing film, printing photographs, enlarging, techniques for correcting exposure, etc.).

Progressively the students will study the techniques of composition and framing and they will analyze problems concerning film sensitivity, grain, and the use of filters and other corrective devices.

Every photograph is the manifestation of one’s sensitivity, the connection between a moment and a feeling. The photographs we take (subjects, frame, location or film used), the way we process and print, etc are all elements for expressing our own subjectivity.

One must understand his or her own emotions and feelings in order to portray it in the way he captures the image.

Description:

The course begins with the understanding of the basics of photography: the camera and how it works (the light meter, aperture, shutter and film speeds) as well as the use of the darkroom (developing film, printing photographs, enlarging, techniques for correcting exposure, etc.).

During the classes many photographs of renowned photographers will be studied making way for technical input by the teacher as to which camera was used in which conditions and why that process was chosen, as well as more subjective analysis such as what is the photographer trying to express. With plenty of theoretical input students will be ready to start taking their own photos and presenting them in class for a thorough analysis in order to make the necessary improvements or changes or simply compliment good choices made by the student.

Although the Photography Course can be taken alone, other students usually have chosen to combine the Italian language Courses and the Photography Course and that's why we've created the Intensive Art Courses (Italian + Art).
