This course is ideal for people who are starting, or have an intermediate or very high skill of guitar playing ability, because the guitar lessons are individual, that teacher can focus on the needs of each student and give them specific tasks and exercises for them to better develop their skills.

The acoustic guitar courses, from beginner to advanced level, are designed for those who wish to improve their playing skills on the acoustic guitar. The AEF provides specialized, qualified teachers who understand the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge required for acoustic performances.

The guitar course for beginners is intended for the student who wants to get the best possible start on the acoustic guitar. Starting from scratch, you will by the end of this course be able to play a many songs in different styles with confidence, and you will have developed the fundamental skills and necessary technique for further development of your guitar skills.

The intermediate guitar course is intended for students who have completed the Level I course, as well as for those students who have already achieved a certain level of guitar playing ability. By the end of the course you will be able to play with confidence as a solo player and also as a more confident accompanist. You will further improve your ability across a variety of different styles using different techniques.

The advanced guitar course is intended to elevate your skill to the highest possible level, and turn you into a confident and thorough musician. During the course you will delve into many acoustic guitar playing skills such as finger picking, flat picking and hybrid picking. Common acoustic chord voicings are covered as well as many popular altered tunings remove as many limitations as possible from your playing.

Course Content

Beginner guitar course

Basic chords (and variations) in order to get the most from your playing;
Basic rhythmic playing;
Scales and playing techniques required to play popular songs in Pop, Rock, R&B and Blues styles;
Basic songwriting techniques and chord theory;
Understanding of harmony and theory used in popular music.

Intermediate guitar course

Fundamental chord knowledge built up over the fingerboard using minor 7th, major 7th and dominant 7th voicings;
Arrangements of popular acoustic tunes to build solo repertoire;
Rhythm parts in the pop/rock style of popular artists;
Instrumental arrangements of well known tunes;
Picking styles of the greats.

Intermediate guitar course

Finger picking skills;
Flat picking;
Building chord vocabulary and playing through popular chord progressions in the Blues style;
Drop D tuning, DADGAD and other altered tunings using traditional Irish and Scottish tunes;
Acoustic blues and slide playing in open D tuning;
Songwriting tips and ideas for arranging popular tunes or your own compositions;

The guitar teacher is Nuccio D'Angelo
He was awarded the first prize at the "Festival of contemporary music" (Tokyo 1984) with "Due Canzoni Lidie" and the "A. Segovia" competition in Almunecar (1991) with "Magie". He won a special prize in 1996 at "The European International Competition for Composer" in New York , and at "La chitarra d'oro per la composizione" (Alessandria - 1997). Although the Guitar Course can be taken alone, other students usually have chosen to combine the Italian language Courses and the Guitar Course and that's why we've created the Intensive Music Courses (Italian + Music).
