1. When is the next starting date?
You may start your Italian language course on any Monday, even if you are a beginner!. If the instructor thinks it is necessary, you will be provided with one or two individual review lessons or tutoring sessions. Please consult our calendary.


2. What should I expect to do on the first day at school?
We will expect you to be at the school office at 9:00am. Students with no prior knowledge of the Italian language will immediately attend the first lesson. All other students will take a written and oral placement test which enables us to determine the appropriate level.


3. How are the courses organized?
Standard Italian Language Course
From Monday to Friday  
Group course 9.00 - 10.30 grammar
10.30 - 11.00 break
11.00 - 12.30 conversaton
16.00 - 17.30 language & cultural activities(optional)


Semi-intensive Italian Language Course
From Monday to Thursday  
Group course 9.00 - 10.30 grammar
10.30 - 11.00 break
11.00 - 12.30 conversation
16.00 - 17.30 language & cultural activities (optional)


Intensive course with Linguistic, Art, Cultre or Music option
From Monday to Friday  
Group course 9.00 - 10.30 grammar
10.30 - 11.00 break
11.00 - 12.30 conversation
14.30 - 16.00 lessons - Linguistics / culture / art or music
16.00 - 17.30 language & cultural activities (optional)


Combined Italian Language Course
From Monday to Friday  
Group course 9.00 - 10.30 grammar
10.30 - 11.00 break
11.00 - 12.30 conversation
14.30 - 16.00 private lessons
16.00 - 17.30 language & cultural activities (optional)


Individual courses
The hours will be arranged based on the student’s availability/needs.



4. Which textbooks are used?
Our basic text and exercise books have been developed by our teachers. These books are used in conjunction with authentic teaching materials such as newspaper and magazine articles and audio-visual materials.


5. Are the teaching materials included in the course price?
All text books and other supplies are provided by the school, but you are expected to have your own dictionary.


6. Which teaching method do you use?
Accademia Europea's teaching method, based on the most innovative concepts of learning, and in every didactic activity, places the focus on the needs of the students. From day one, students are put in the condition to be able to communicate with others, and understand the information they receive both in and outside of class, stimulating their curiosity and desire to face new and more difficult challenges.

Attention is placed both on the correct use of grammar and in both formal and informal discourse. A wide array of teaching material and audio-visual aids available to the students are constantly updated.


7. What are your teachers' qualifications?
The teachers are all highly qualified professionals, with degrees in Language and Humanistic Disciplines, who have specialized in teaching Italian to foreigners.


8. Which course certificates do students receive?
Accademia Europea di Firenze issues the following certificates:

  • At the end of each course, students who have passed their exam receive the certificate of attendance indicating the level of proficiency attained;
  • At the end of each course, students who have attended regularly receive the certificate of attendance;
  • Students who have passed the Advanced level exam receive the "Diploma di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana".



9. After twelve weeks, how much Italian will I be able to speak, assuming I am a complete beginner upon arrival, I work hard and I am good at languages?
Accademia Europea di Firenze offers 7 different course levels from absolute beginner to advanced. Each course level usually consists of 20 lessons/week over a period of 4 weeks. It is possible to complete Beginner, Elementary and Intermediate levels in 12 weeks. At the end of the Intermediate level you will possess considerable knowledge of the grammatical structures of the Italian language and their functions. You will be able to confront almost any topic of conversation, using the correct forms and comprehending even complex situations.
